The World According to Victoria

Wonderful World of Victoria

Welcome to Victoria's World. She's a happy, rambunctious, curious pre-schooler. There's no end to the adventures to be had when you're turning into a little girl. Here's to watching the transformation.

  Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

Here are some pictures from Thanksgiving at my parents house. I'm not a big one for pictures when cooking (or eating). :)

A picture of me and my brothers. You won't see that one too often.

Happy Birthday, Ben! Claudine baked an Apple Cider Cake. Yum!

Nothing pretentious here. :) The table is set with paper plates. That way everyone gets to visit after the meal and doesn't get stuck in the kitchen washing dishes for the next couple hours.

And, it worked out well. We got to visit and watch football games on the widescreen HDTV. Napping was optional, of course. :)

  Snowstorm Take 2
I played along in a scrapbooking challenge today. The challenge was to scrap the 4th to the last picture you've taken (or have uploaded to your computer). The catch, of course, is that you only have 30 minutes to complete it. Here's the layout I designed for that picture.

  Doctor Visit
Oh, what a day! We had an appointment to go see Victoria's ENT Dr. Shah at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia today.

Of course it all depended on the weather. We were lucky. We had some ice during the night, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. We might have had the .25inch of ice that the forecasters were talking about, but just barely.

Victoria slept in this morning. Was actually a good thing today as she's had the sniffles lately. Not too much trouble with getting up and dressed. Hasn't been eating much though. Again, we think because of all the mucus draining out of her sinuses. Anyway, she managed about half a Nutrigrain bar and licking the butter off a half a muffin.

Jeff cleared off the driveway while I got Victoria situated. Some difficulties getting Victoria out the door as she didn't want to go visit the doctor. So, it took a little more coaxing.

Roads were pretty much clear. We drove slower than normal, gave ourselves plenty of time to get there, and arrived about half an hour early. I think we still managed to get into an exam room before our appointment time and see the nurse practitioner. It was still after noon by the time we saw Dr. Shah.

Victoria did really well. She sat in my lap and cuddled in the waiting area. She was just starting to get off my lap and make a move to go find something to play when we were called into an exam room. She roamed around the exam room for a while as we waited. I'd packed a backpack of a variety of toys for her. She got up and down from the exam chair, but no jumping. Of course, she jumped around everywhere else. She also spent a good deal of time crawling around on the floor. Ugh!

For the most part, she cooperated with the exams. Goes to show that we've been to the doctor's office too much. She let them look in her ears, in her mouth, and up her nose. The only problem area was when Dr. Shah removed the tubes. He had to use one of those stirrup shaped speculums to snag them. They're the tiniest things. The one was in really good shape. The other one was gunked up with wax and detritus. We opted not to keep them, although Dr. Shah offered. And, that was it. We go back in three months to see how she's doing. I've got my fingers crossed that Victoria has outgrown the ear infections. She at least seems to be fighting off infections better.

Well, we got out of the offices and headed off to lunch. We went up the street to a Chili's at the corner of 38th and Chestnut. We managed to get a parking space on the street. Jeff and I enjoyed our meals. Victoria ate ice, goldfish, and a couple french fries. <> But she managed to occupy herself while we ate so that a fair accomplishment.

After that it was head home by way of Chestnut Hill. We stopped at our old Chinese place for old times sake to get a take out order for dinner. (And it was as good as I remember.) Victoria caught a nap about halfway home. Wish we could have driven around the block a couple more times to extend the nap. Unfortunately she woke up as I was getting her out of the car seat. I made an attempt to get her into bed, to no avail. All I got was a wiggly child and "Downstairs!".

So that pretty much covers the excitement for the day.

  Switch to New Blogger
I was forced to switch over to the new Blogger today. Hopefully my posts will go through without a problem. Let me know if you see any problems.

Anyway, on to a Victoria update. Victoria's been a bit cranky the last couple days. Not only does she have the sniffles but she's also teething. I caught a glimpse of a new molar the other day when I was brushing her teeth. We've been weathering some storms from her lately.

We've been keeping an eye out on the weather today. It's started snowing in the last hour or so. We're starting to see it stick out on the grass. It's very pretty to sit and watch it come down right now as we don't have to go anywhere.

I'm going to be updating the photos from the last week. I have some pretty cute ones of Victoria. I have a few not so cute temper-trantrum photos to demonstrate to balance out too.
