  A Rare Weekend Off
It's been a tough couple weeks. I've been working most of them. We decided to take this one off to spend together. I ignored the housework, the dishes, the laundry, the weeding... all of it for the weekend. We played this weekend.

Yesterday we went off and had lunch at the Plymouth Meeting Mall. Victoria had a chance to ride on the Merry-Go-Round. I did a little shopping. Then we went to the movie theater and saw Wall-E. Not too sure how Victoria felt about it. I don't think it was one of the better Disney/Pixar movie collabs. I think it was a little heavy-handed on the morality tale. It relied too heavily on visual cues that the younger kids don't get. I spent a lot of the movie whispering with Victoria because she kept asking what was going on. That's rare for her. She usually settles in and absorbs the movie, but not for this one.

Today we went adventuring. When I got detoured off my usual road, I ended up having to drive further along Morris Road and cut over to Skippack another way. This detour took me by Fischer Park. I'd seen some kids playground equipment in there and thought it might make a fun outing with a picnic.

So today we put together a picnic and headed out to the park. Surprise! The park was far more extensive than I'd realized. It had three playground areas for different age kids. A creek runs along the side and back of the park, as far as I could tell. Looks like you can do some fishing in the creek, mostly sunnys and panfish now. There's a waterfall over a dam at one point where the level drops. At that point, you could walk out onto the rocks in the creek. The trails are well marked and vary from macadam to gravel to dirt. We hiked along some of them but certainly didn't see the whole park.

Victoria had a great time. She wandered between the various playgrounds. The playground set up for 4-8 year olds seemed to be her favorite. It had the standard jungle gym type slides as well as some swings, a sandbox, and some bouncy rides. I have plenty of pictures so you'll no doubt be able to see all about the playground. (and the park.)
