The World According to Victoria

Wonderful World of Victoria

Welcome to Victoria's World. She's a happy, rambunctious, curious pre-schooler. There's no end to the adventures to be had when you're turning into a little girl. Here's to watching the transformation.

  Girls Day Out Post II

We headed over to Dukes Lagoon after lunch. It was perfect weather for hanging out in the water park. It was pretty crowded in there. I had to hunt to find two chairs together to drop our towels down. We didn't spend much time on the chairs. Victoria is a whirlwind in Dukes Lagoon. She dashes through the various water toys. We did everything today.

Just getting her goggles on and before she started dashing through the water spray.

Dancing in the puddles after one of the buckets spilled in the forts.

Greeting the whale, of course. Can't forget him.

She actually went through the downpour around Duke to get completely soaked. She did a lot that I couldn't get on the little point and shoot I had with me today. I was afraid of getting it wet and ruining it.

She went down the yellow slide and the green slide. She almost went down the red slide this time. She got up to the top and then turned around. It was tough on me to do the slides with her. I can't be in two places at once. So I'd go up the slides and wait in line then hurry down to try to be at the bottom when she got there. I know there's a lifeguard at the bottom but I feel better being close enough to grab her if she starts floundering.

Girls Day Out at Dutch Wonderland

Today was Girls Day Out at Dutch Wonderland for Victoria and I. Jeff still had to work but it was a summer hours day for me. It was such a nice day and since it was a weekday we thought the park wouldn't be too crowded. So I packed us up, set up Monster Inc in the DVD player and we headed down 202 to Rt 30 for Dutch Wonderland.

Turns out that was a good idea. It wasn't crowded at all.

Here we are just entering the park and heading down to the Mill Stream Eatery for lunch. Victoria had to stop off and pose in the cutouts. She was a little disappointed that there was another little girl there who poked her head through the princess before Victoria could.

The Mill Stream Eatery is our favorite place to eat. Victoria can get a kids meal of an Uncrustable sandwich, apple sauce, chips, and a cookie with a souvenir cup. I can get a chicken sandwich with french fries. For the two of us it wasn't too bad this time around. I think I spent $13 for lunch. Okay... that's expensive for everyday eating. But it's not bad for being in an amusement park.

What's even better is that she actually eats lunch. We negotiated on the cookie and chips. She had to eat the Uncrustable and some apple sauce before she got the cookie. She had to eat more apple sauce to get some chips. She ate all the Uncrustable and apple sauce, got the cookie, and ate some but not all of the chips.

Victoria wanted to ride a couple rides on our way over to Dukes Lagoon. The Panda Party and Dukes Dozers were on our way. She was really excited to get on the Panda Party because there was no line. She wasn't so happy when the ride started. The little girl behind her kept her finger on the buzzer for almost the entire ride. It was loud for me outside the fence so I imagine it was too much for Victoria in the car with her. I saw her cover her ears for a while. She didn't complain though but she ran over to Dukes Dozers pretty quick.

There isn't much to Dukes Dozers. It's actually a pretty slow ride that goes around in a circle a couple times. She likes moving the blade or the loader up and down using the controls.

As always you can click on a picture to see it larger.

  Dutch Wonderland Part 5
It wouldn't be an amusement park without an icee for Victoria. Here she is with her slushee from the Slush Shack.
Then she tried to hit every ride in the park. Here we are on the Space Shuttle.
She totally loved the Wonder Whip. She has such a grin through the whole thing.
Here's one to exhaust the kids. Choo Choo Charlie... using arm peddling power.

  Dutch Wonderland Part 6
We were afraid these might be too young for Victoria. But she still wanted to ride on them. She has such a look of concentration and she tried to figure out the levers for the front loader.
The Panda Party complete with lots of buzzing noises for the bees.
And, the Off Road Rally.
Victoria goes for the front car.

  Dutch Wonderland Part 3
Dukes Lagoon
She's not excited at all, is she?
I have a similar photo of her in front of Duke of Duke's Lagoon from last year. I have to pull it out to compare the two.
Here's another fun pose from her. I have no idea what she was doing at the time. She just raced back and forth.
And, of coure, greeting the whale....

  Dutch Wonderland Part 4
So, where did my timid little girl go? And, where did this little adventurer come from? Victoria is gaining her confidence and it's starting to show. She's still a little hesitant. She considers it, then she goes for it. She went down two of the three water slides. This is the one she really liked.

  Dutch Wonderland Part 1
With the weather looking so nice for this weekend, we took an unexpected trip out to Dutch Wonderland for Victoria. She was so excited.
My precious gem is an Amber this year.

Here she is checking out the big map for her first ride. She wanted to go on the ride that goes 'up, up, up and then down'.. the Skyride across the park.

Here she is following her own map to get to the skyride. I think she might be looking at it right side up this time. She's getting so big now. She's growing up too fast for me.

Daddy and Victoria in the Skyride cab in front of me. If I had been smart, I'd have gotten on in front of them so I could get a snapshot of Victoria's big grin.

  Dutch Wonderland Part 2
Here's Victoria on one of the Wiggle Racers. She adored this last year. She only rode them once and just for a little while this year.

So much more adventuresome this year. I couldn't believe when she asked to go down the big slide. Mommy and Victoria went first. I think there might be some pictures on the other camera. We went down twice together and then she dragged Daddy off. Click on the picture for a larger version if you want to see the great big grin she had on her face the whole way down. :)

Riding the ponies. Such a treat. I think she enjoyed it. You can't tell from this picture. She was so focused.

We had lunch and then next stop... Dukes Lagoon. Victoria was so impatient to get into the water park. We had to wait on Daddy and it nearly killed her. And, once we got in there, she was a bundle of energy, running to and fro throughout the various water attractions. Here she is at the beginning before she got completely soaked.
